Conservation & Management Plan For St Nicholas Church, Adare
Augustinian Friaries are an important part of the Medieval Irish past. St. Nicholas Church in Adare, formally known as Black Abbey is a prime example. St Nicholas’s is a building complex of National Significance with a number of major issues of vulnerability.
The Conservation and Management Plan sets out principles and policies which should support the long-term management of the Building and site to ensure that its significance is retained and protected.
While the policies provide a framework for making decisions regarding the use and care of the church, they will also help in the evaluation of proposals which could affect the church, site and setting.
The project involved extensive research and investigations on all aspects of the complex including archaeology, stained glass windows, history and development of the complex etc.
