ACP undertook a comprehensive conservation survey of Glenstal Abbey, a protected structure, which identified a program of repair works to the historic fabric including repairs to the masonry walls, repairs to the library floor, wall paintings in the office, external windows and treatment of a dry rot outbreak.

Glenstal Abbey in Murroe, County Limerick is a Norman Revivalist castle built by Sir Matthew Barrington, between 1836 and 1839. In 1927 Monks from Maredsous Abbey, Belgium, established a Benedictine monastery here. This elegant and imposing gatehouse retains several stylistic defensive features, such as its castellated parapet and cast iron lettering above the doorway. It is highly symmetrical and in very good condition, adding to a strong impression made by the building as a whole.
